If you’re newly retired or thinking ahead about your next move, you might be wondering: What is senior living really like?
At The Forum at Rancho San Antonio, we believe the best answer comes from the people who live here. From couples who jumped in with both feet to those who took time to warm up to the idea of moving to a senior living community, residents of our Life Plan Community have found comfort, connection and adventures large and small in ways they didn’t expect.
Here’s what a few of them had to say:
“The grounds are beautiful. The homes are beautiful. The people are wonderful. And the food is terrific.” – Gretchen
Gretchen and her husband found more than just a home – they found purpose.
“Each of us has found new friendships and great projects to which we can contribute,” she writes. “Recently, we participated in Earth Day and supported development of a Wishing Tree project where all residents and staff were invited to share their hopes for the future of The Forum in context of a healthy community and planet.”
The energy and optimism here are what keep her engaged.
“These hopes and wishes inform actions and actions create possibilities,” she shares. “We are happy to call The Forum home and for all the possibilities here!”
“A good financial decision has turned out to be such a wonderful lifestyle decision.” – Kathy
Kathy and her partner chose The Forum with practicality in mind but soon found themselves enjoying much more than peace of mind.
“We chose The Forum as a place to be able to age in place comfortably, primarily so our kids wouldn’t have to worry about what to ‘do’ with us when things get harder.”
The layout of the Villas sealed the deal, and she noted that the floor plan she chose – complete with an office and two bedrooms – allows her to host family and friends without feeling cramped.
But the biggest surprise?
“We were delighted to calculate that the resident-owned structure provides a much better return on our investment,” she says. “We enjoy the perfect amount of privacy with many new opportunities to be involved and connect with an amazing group of active and caring seniors.”
“Moving here was among the best decisions of my life.” – Barbara
Barbara has lived at The Forum for nine years and doesn’t hesitate to call it home.
“My husband and I started our married life here,” she writes. “We have made many wonderful friends and enjoy stimulating, friendly, inspiring social activity daily.”
And the support from the team hasn’t gone unnoticed:
“The atmosphere here is a very positive one – everyone, residents and staff alike, seem to share the attitude that The Forum is where they want to be.”
“Good move.” – David
David was reluctant at first.
“I really didn’t want to leave my home, which had many tools and workspaces that I had built,” he admits. “But every year I get older, so it’s necessary to plan for an unknowable future.”
The transition turned out to be smoother than expected:
“I’ve found room at The Forum for my main interests, and I enjoy living near the many very interesting residents! I feel stimulated, safe, and well cared for here.”
And now, five years later?
“It’s important to make the move well before you need to so that you can really enjoy this phase of life. It’s been 5 years already. Good move!”
