Happy Lunar New Year! The Forum at Rancho San Antonio Celebrates Lunar New Year with Artistic Flair!
In celebration of the Lunar New Year, residents of The Forum at Rancho San Antonio have unleashed their creativity to honor this cherished cultural tradition with a spectacular display of artistry and ingenuity. This year, the festivities welcome back a life-sized dragon made entirely from recycled materials and two NEW handcrafted and painted 6-foot door guards.
The dragon, a symbol of strength, good fortune, and prosperity, is a testament to the residents’ dedication and imagination. By repurposing everyday items, they have brought this majestic creature to life, showcasing the importance of sustainability alongside cultural celebration.
Adding to the grandeur are two magnificent door guards, meticulously painted on 6-foot canvases by our talented residents. These door guards, traditionally made of paper and replaced each Lunar New Year, are believed to ward off evil spirits and protect the home from harm. This custom has been elevated to an art form at The Forum, with the door guards reflecting vibrant colors and intricate designs that honor the Year of the Snake.
“Our community is a beautiful tapestry of diverse cultures, and this celebration is a testament to the power of coming together to honor traditions that enrich us all. By creatively using recycled materials and honoring cultural customs, we not only celebrate the Lunar New Year but also reinforce our commitment to sustainability. This event reflects our shared values of creativity, respect for heritage, and the joy of embracing both cultural diversity and environmental stewardship,” said Nancy Kao, Executive Director of The Forum at Rancho San Antonio.
