If you’ve started researching retirement communities, you know there are a lot of options to choose from. As you review your choices, one way to separate the best from the rest is to consider any awards a retirement community has received. Independent recognition can give you insight into a community’s lifestyle, amenities and on-site care to help you determine resident (and potentially your) level of satisfaction. It can also help you narrow down your choices and even eliminate some retirement communities altogether.
What Makes Us Your Best Senior Living Option?
The Forum at Rancho San Antonio is proud of the recent awards we’ve received recognizing our amazing lifestyle, progressive community and high level of quality care. Here’s a brief rundown of our recent accolades:
US News & World Report Best Independent Living Communities 2024-2025
We recently earned the U.S. News & World Report Best Independent Living status by achieving a High Performing rating, the highest possible rating, for independent living. The Best Independent Living ratings recognize communities that have excelled at providing highly satisfactory services and making residents feel safe and well cared for.
To determine the award winners, a survey was sent to residents asking about their satisfaction with various aspects of the community, including safety, caregiving, management, staff, food and dining and activities. U.S. News & World Report analyzed the survey data and applied several weightings and adjustments to create their final scores.

5-Star Rated Care
While being part of an invigorating community is important, consider that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services predicts 70% of adults 65 and older will need some type of long-term care for an average of three years. If you’re married, it’s more than likely you or your spouse will need care in the future. The Forum’s higher levels of care have been recognized for their performance and quality.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) rating system evaluates nursing homes and skilled nursing facilities across the nation. A five-star rating is the highest possible score, with of skilled nursing communities nationwide achieving a five-star CMS rating signifying excellence in all aspects of care. It is a comprehensive assessment that encompasses various critical factors:
- Health inspections: These are unannounced inspections that assess the overall safety and health standards of the facility. They examine aspects like cleanliness, safety protocols and adherence to health regulations.
- Quality measures: These metrics assess the health and well-being of residents and the quality of care provided.
- Staffing levels: This factor evaluates the ratio of nurses to residents, ensuring facilities have sufficient staff to provide adequate care. Higher staffing levels often translate to better care and more personalized attention.
Low Rehospitalization
The average rate of rehospitalization for short-stay residents in California is 22.4%. At The Forum, our rate is an impressive 5%.
Personalized Support
Our staffing levels exceed industry standards, allowing our nurses to spend more time with each resident.
Faster Recovery Times
Our rehabilitation team of physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech therapists work closely with each resident to develop a personalized recovery plan focused on helping them regain their highest possible levels for independence and a return to their normal routines faster.
