Celebrating 35 Years at The Forum at Rancho San Antonio
This year, we’re celebrating 35 years of The Forum at Rancho San Antonio and looking back at what has made this senior living community in Cupertino so special for more than three decades.
The Forum opened its doors on September 21, 1991, welcoming its first four residents. Just two months later, 163 residents had already made The Forum their home. A lot has changed since those early days, but one thing has remained the same: the people who make The Forum feel like home.
More Than a Place to Live
When people ask what makes The Forum different, it can be tempting to talk about everything we offer. The beautiful residences, dining, fitness and wellness programs, activities, outdoor spaces and our location next to Rancho San Antonio County Park and Open Space Preserve.
And all of those things are important.
But after 35 years, we know that what people remember most are the moments in between.
It’s the neighbor who became a friend.
It’s meeting someone new over dinner at The Ridge.
It’s a walk through the morning with our hiking group at 7:30 AM.
It’s joining a Mahjong game just because it sounds interesting.
It’s discovering a hobby you haven’t had time for in years.
It’s the familiar faces of team members who greet you by name.
Those everyday moments are what turn a senior living community into a community in the truest sense of the word.
Looking Back at Where We Started
The Forum has certainly evolved since 1991.
In the beginning, the community looked very different. There was little landscaping, a small fitness center and no swimming pool. The first pool was built in 1992, and over the years the campus continued to grow and change. The Forum's Health Care Center also opened in 1992, providing Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing services.
Today, The Forum is a Life Plan Community offering Residential Living alongside a continuum of health care services, including Assisted Living, Memory Care, Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Our residences have grown and evolved, too, with apartment homes and villas designed for different lifestyles and preferences. Residents also enjoy access to dining, wellness, activities and amenities throughout the community.
But while the campus has changed, the heart of The Forum hasn't.
A Community Surrounded by Nature
One of the things we never take for granted is our setting.
The Forum sits next to the 3,988-acre Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve, giving residents an incredible connection to nature right outside their doors.
For some residents, that means heading out for a hike. For others, it might mean enjoying the scenery from a patio, taking a leisurely walk or simply appreciating the peaceful surroundings.
The People Behind 35 Years
Of course, we couldn't celebrate 35 years without celebrating the people who have made it possible.
Our residents have brought their stories, talents, interests and personalities to The Forum and helped shape the community we know today.
Our team members have dedicated years to serving residents and creating an environment where people feel welcomed, supported and connected. Today, our team brings hundreds of years of combined experience to The Forum.
Families have also been an important part of our story. Choosing a senior living community is a significant decision, and we are grateful to the families who have trusted The Forum to be part of their loved one's journey.
And then there are the countless friendships that have started here.
Some have lasted a few years. Some have lasted decades. All of them are part of our story.
35 Years Later, We're Still Looking Ahead
Anniversaries naturally make us look back.
But at The Forum, we're just as excited about what's ahead.
The needs and interests of today's older adults continue to change, and we believe a great senior living community should change with them. That means continuing to create opportunities for wellness, connection, learning, recreation and purpose while giving residents a meaningful voice in their community.
That spirit has been part of The Forum since the beginning and continues to guide us today. Our mission is centered around friendship, health, sustainability and purpose, with a vision of creating a community where residents take pride in their home and their role within it.
So, as we celebrate 35 years, we're not only celebrating how far we've come.
We're celebrating the people who got us here.
We're celebrating the memories made around campus.
We're celebrating the friendships that continue to grow.
And we're celebrating all of the stories that haven't been written yet.
